Kasey and Green Light Auto Credit did a fantastic job in helping us a great car!
Hybrid cars have been on the market since 1999, and they’ve only grown in popularity since then. These vehicles offer plenty of competitive fuel economy, but how exactly do they work? At Green Light Auto Credit, we’re pleased to present this guide to hybrid vehicles. If you’re in the market for one of these efficient cars, contact us for more information about your financing options.
A hybrid vehicle combines more than one form of engine to produce power in a vehicle. That usually means that hybrid includes some type of gas engine and some type of electric motor. While the electric motor can be charged in a number of different ways, most vehicles use regenerative braking to draw power. This absorbs some of the force created when braking and stores it in the vehicle’s battery. That power is used later to help move the vehicle through the electric motor-generator. Some hybrids even have up to three motor-generators to produce additional power.
The newest type of hybrid to hit the market is the plug-in hybrid. This engine system allows you to plug in the vehicle and charge a high-capacity battery, allowing the car to run in all-electric mode. The combustion engine is just there in case you run out of charge. This gives you the option to hit the road on longer trips and not worry about finding a charging station along the way. Several plug-in hybrids include the Ford Fusion Energi, the Toyota Prius, and one model of the Honda Accord. If one of those sounds like a good fit for you and your family, check out your financing options.
